27th Japan MH Grand Prize Special Award

Mujin material handling robotics solution that solves the labor shortage problem won the “27th Japan MH Grand Prize Special Award.”

Mujin was awarded the prestigious prize for the development and implementation of a system that recognizes the shape, position, and configuration of an object; allows the object to be moved and picked in a smooth way without teaching.

While the e-commerce economy is expanding rapidly, the labor shortage is becoming more serious due to population decrease. Meanwhile, although conventional robots are suitable for automating repetitive tasks due to the complexity of their settings, it has been difficult to introduce them in logistics. Mujin has developed an intelligent robot that enables the robot itself to recognize the circumstances and generate motions that are appropriate for different situations. Mujin provides solutions to automate the hard work at logistics sites that previously had to be done manually.

What are needed for the Japanese industries in the 21st century are creative activities that include new sense of value, review of innovative management strategies and structuring new vision.
Under such circumstances, introduction of new MH technologies and systems that can correspond to industrial globalization and further cost reduction are the major requirements for both production and distribution site.
