Mujin at IROS 2022! Supporting robotics researchers

Participating in conferences or events is always a precious opportunity for us to interact with the international robotics community, to meet up with talented engineers, and exchange the latest technologies.
This year was a special opportunity for Mujin because the event was held in Kyoto, Japan – just a short trip by bullet train from our Tokyo facility. IROS, one of the largest and most impactful robotics conferences of 2022, gave us many incredible connections and memorable moments with researchers from all over the world.

At Mujin’s booth, we showcased a bin picking robot and our intelligent robot controller “MujinController”, which are used in production in multiple countries today.

Our software engineers gave keynote speeches and presentations at several sessions. Some of the participants asked our engineers about the technical part of the MujinController, and mentioned they were impressed by the smooth movement of our intelligent robots.
We are thankful that a lot of participants stopped by during the event to have a chat with our team and see our products.

Throughout IROS, the international robotics community brought us great connections with researchers

Mujin not only participated in the conference workshops and exhibition, but also supported robotics researchers by sponsoring competitions and research awards focused on real-world robotics problem solving.

As IROS was held in Japan this year, it was the perfect opportunity to introduce our revolutionary technology to robotics researchers from all over the world. We hosted special office tours at our HQ in Tokyo, which researchers and students from top institutions such as MIT, Stanford, and ETH Zurich attended after the event.

The winner of the Best Paper Award for Industrial Robotics Research with Practical Applications sponsored by Mujin, Dr. Vincent Groenhuis, was one of the visitors. He is a researcher of robotics and mechatronics at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.

Our Lead Product Engineer, Dr. Felix von Drigalski, showed our demos and robot testing area to Dr. Groenhuis.
Felix also published a paper at IROS and had that research featured in the influential Japanese newspaper Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.

Dr. Groenhuis told us he was impressed by the size and speed of our robots, made possible by our core technology MujinMI (Machine Intelligence).

At lunch, our engineers were able to learn about and play with the prototype of the special motor Dr. Groenhuis invented!

After lunch, our CTO Rosen met with Dr. Groenhuis to discuss invention and founding a company. As a founder of Mujin, Rosen gave him advice about raising investment and developing products. We hope Rosen’s advice will help him on his journey to a bright future!

This year’s IROS was an excellent opportunity to have many visitors at our office and exchange knowledge about the latest innovations in robotics! We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the participants who visited our booth at the IROS venue and our office.

Mujin is looking forward to continuing to support robotics researchers around the world and making real innovation happen!
